
Richard R. 'Dick' Palmer, 81, of Mansfield died Sunday afternoon, October 27, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Palmer was born September 19, 1921 in Mansfield to the late David C. and Helen M. Andrews Palmer. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and attended St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Dick owned and operated Palmer's Bakery. Dick was a member of American Legion Post #16 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII serving in the Pacific.
He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Virginia McLaughlin Palmer; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jack and Chu Chi Palmer of the Philippines, and Jeffrey Palmer of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol D. and Rex Snyder of Mansfield; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Dorothy Palmer of Mansfield; four stepchildren, Murray Konves of Mansfield, Bradley Konves and Pamela Mock of Lexington, Ohio, and Penny Seaman of Elyria, Ohio; seven step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Mildred N. Durbin Palmer, who died in May 1994 and his parents.
Friends may call at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1262 Ashland Road, two hours prior to funeral services that will be held Wednesday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa. Burial will be at a later date in Mansfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
