Richard Schwab

Richard B. Dick Schwab, 87, of Mansfield, died Friday, October 12, 2007 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. Born August 2, 1920 in Mansfield, he was the son of Clyde and Alma Hoffman Schwab and spent his entire life here. Richard graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in the June class of 1938. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII, and was stationed mainly in England. Dick was a loyal and hard-working employee of the Mansfield News Journal, retiring after 44 years of service. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, and also a member of the Venus Lodge and AARP.

Richard was a loving and devoted husband for 58 years and is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Fiedler Schwab; daughter, Vicki Lynn Schwab of Sarasota, Florida; granddaughter, Aliah Schweickart of Bradenton, Florida; one sister, Phyllis Schwab; and sister-in-law, Ruth Mengert, both of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Rev. Lon McSherley. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
