Richard Swank, 84, of Mansfield, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Mifflin Care Center. Born February 19, 1927, in Mansfield, he was the son of Owen and Alberta Spade Swank. A veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II, he retired from Ohio Brass as a supervisor after 42 years of service and was a member of the United Electrical Union where he served as Vice President for many years. He also was an instructor with the United States Naval Reserves for over 30 years, retiring from that in 1987. Richard was a 32nd Degree Free Mason, was a member of the 40 & 8, the Grace Street VFW Post 3499, the American Legion Post 16 and the Amvets Post 26.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma Bowman Swank; a daughter, Connie Lee Hines; and a son-in-law, Alexander Morrison Nowalski. He was preceded in death by his parents.
