He was born September 4, 1923 to Frank and Beula Daves Gilbert of Mifflin, Ohio.
He was a retiree of the Ohio Brass company, and was a World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Beula, two sisters, Margarite Aochhiser and Evelyn Edwards, and two brothers, Frank and David Gilbert.
He is survived by his wife, Jeroldine, three sisters, Olive Jean Shollaya of Mansfield, Ohio, Thelma Booker of Texarkana, Texas, Dorthy Davis of Delaware, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was a member of the Ontario Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and served there as a Ministerial Servant since the formation of the congregation in 1974.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1745 Walker Lake Rd. in Ontario at 2:00 pm. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Robert Gilbert.
