
Robert Hunter Judson, 81, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Galion Community Hospital. Born July 5, 1929 in Seneca Falls, New York, he is the son of the late Rita Brougham and Harold Hunter Judson. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving two tours with the U.S. Army and earning a Korean Service Ribbon with 4 Bronze Service Stars. Robert retired from IBM after 33 years of service, most recently as a power engineer. He attended First Presbyterian Church. Robert was active in Habitat for Humanity, having been involved in the building of numerous homes in the Mansfield community. Blessed with a very creative, forward thinking mind, he was involved in creating a portable spectrometer, as well as building many Stirling engines, radio antennae and hi-fi equipment. Robert was involved in research his entire life, developing power supplies while working at IBM and more recently, toroidal transformers for stereo tube amplifiers. As a young man, he was employed with Northwest Airlines as an engine mechanic.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy Harrison Judson, whom he married May 6, 1963; two sons, Kevin Susan Hunter Judson of Woonsocket, RI and Jared Alden Judson of Medford, MA; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Abigail, Caroline, Nathaniel, Genevieve, Anne and Thomas; and a sister, Barbara Janssen of Austin, TX. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Duggan.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Crestline, Ohio, conducted by Rev. Dennis Allison. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Robert Judson.
