Robert Prigmore

Robert Leo Prigmore, 86, of Mansfield, died Saturday, October 30, 2010, at his residence. Born September 25, 1924, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph Robert and Frances Cleon Lackey Prigmore. He was a 1943 graduate of Ruggles Township High School and a 1948 graduate of Mansfield Business Training School. Robert was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II where he was wounded in action and thus receiving the Purple Heart. He retired from the Ohio State Reformatory. Robert was a member of Lincoln Heights Baptist Church. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #16, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9943, Disabled American Veterans Ohio Chapter 21, Venus Lodge #152 F&AM and the Mansfield Liederdranz. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was very proud of his military service as his father served during World War I, his son served in Vietnam and his grandson served in Iraq and Afganistan.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Mae Corp Prigmore whom he married March 6, 1949; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph L. Paula Prigmore of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy M. David Sipes of Mansfield; grandchildren, Craig Cindy Lewis, Jeremiah Raquel Lewis, Sharon Lewis Carver, Roderick Arminta Weatherford, Jacqueline Prigmore Michael Risner all of Mansfield and Captain Robert J. Katharina Prigmore, serving in Afganistan; step grandchildren, Dana Jason Braden, David Sipes, Jr both of Mansfield and Danielle Vernard Tufts of Hawaii; 17 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce Ann Moore and Elva Jean Wicker. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Margaret Ann.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Mike Wilson. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
