
Robert R. Rickel Sr., 68, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Rickel was born July 6, 1935 in Ashland, Ohio residing in the Ashland-Mansfield area all of his life. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1953 and Kent State University in 1959. He was self-employed as an accountant. Mr. Rickel was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of First Christian Church in Ashland. Mr. Rickel was also a member of Elks Lodge in Ashland and The National Accounting Association. Robert loved to fish, hunt, watch the Cleveland Browns and Indians and spend time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Rowland Rickel; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Cindy Rickel II of Mansfield; Jeffrey Rickel of Ashland; and David and Sandy Rickel of Jacksonville, Florida; one daughter, Cheryl Williams of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Robert and Randall Rickel of Mansfield; Jennifer Rickel of Mansfield and Andrew Rickel of Ashland; Stephanie and Kaylyn Williams of Mansfield and Emily Rickel of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters, Eileen Duffey and Dorothy Trottman both of Ashland; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Effie Rickel of Tucson, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Nina Kopp Rickel; and two sisters, Helen Wilson and Marilyn Bowersock.
At Robert's request, he was cremated and will have no calling hours or funeral services. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to First Christian Church Memorial Fund, 405 Cottage St., Ashland, Ohio 44805.
