

An avid outdoorsman since youth, from fishing for muskies with his dad, trips to Canada with his children and grandson, hunting trips out West where he had to cliff jump when a grizzly hunted him pheasant, coon, squirrel and rabbit hunting with his dogs, along with turkey, goose, duck, and deer expeditions with his boys and grandchildren. Retirement brought a new love of gardening, winning "Yard of the Year" in 2002 from the Mansfield Gardening Club. A carpenter by trade, he was a superintendent for R.G. Beer Co. and was a member of Carpenter's Union Local #735 for over 35 years.
He attended Madison High School and was the News Journal "Player of the Year" in 1949 for football. A member of Pavonia United Methodist for decades where he was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 508 raising his boys with scouting adventures. His current church is Olivesburg United Methodist.
Pete grew up with musical parents and played the saxophone and danced a "mean" polka with his wife at numerous family functions.
He is survived by four children, Brenda (Jerry) Greer, Jeff (Mary) Pryor, Denise Sqrow Pryor (Larry), Joe (Sheila) Pryor. He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Pryor and Brian Pryor. His grandchildren were a remarkably huge part of his life and he loved them dearly. They include Alex Boyle, Audrey (George) Wilson, Amanda (Cory) Gray, Malinda (Fritz) Hain, Kim (Kyle) Biles, David (Nicole) Carmichael, Jeffery II (Kari) Pryor, Joshua Pryor, Justin Pryor, Kayla (Joel) Workman, Roeliff Pryor, Jarrod (Sarah) Pryor, Karissa Pryor (Jessie), Macey (Luke) Wenrich, Holly (Mike) McFarland, Sherry Graber, David Graber, Jeanette (Chuck) Kvochick, Amy Bridges (Ken), Michelle Graber (Scott); thirty-six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Anna Pryor; brothers, Richard and Raymond Pryor; sister-in-law, Norma Jean Pryor; and one great-grandchild, Ashlyn Biles.
He may not be much in the eyes of the world but he was the world to us.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Johnnie Swann and Rev. Dallas Waggle officiating. He will be laid to rest in Pavonia Cemetery.
