
Roger C. Zimmerman, 82, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Born December 14, 1922, in Mansfield, he was the son of LeRoy and Helen T. Whipp Zimmerman. An area resident his entire life he retired from the Mansfield Police Department in 1975 after 27 years of service. He attended Main Street United Methodist Church and was a veteran of WWII serving with the Navy in the Pacific Theater operations. Mr. Zimmerman was a member of Venus Masonic Lodge #152 F. & A.M., Baku Grotto, 32nd Valley of Columbus, York Rite Mason, Fraternal Order of Police, life member and past commander V.F.W. Post #3494, Amvets Post #26 and F.O.E. #336.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and James Flood of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger and Vicki Zimmerman of Port Clinton and Douglas Zimmerman of Dewitt, Ark.; four granddaughters; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; four cousins, Dorothy Zimmerman and Grace Zimmerman, both of Bellville, Marian Campbell of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Carson Zimmerman of Langston, Ala.; two stepdaughters, Judy Essick and Sandra Powers, both of Mansfield; and a stepson, Dick Rowen of Lexington. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, June Zimmerman, two brothers, one sister and a dear friend, Helen Hohler.
At. Mr. Zimmerman's request there will be no calling hours or services. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
