

He graduated from Union High School in Epworth, Ohio, and attended Ohio State University before graduation from Antioch University with a BA degree in Business Administration. He earned him MBA from Cleveland State University in 1990. He went on to take additional courses at Capella University pursuing a Doctorate Degree.
Ron was preceded in death by his first wife, Janeen Mellick Adams. They were married for 35 years, raising twin boys, David and Brant, who reside in the area.
He married his current wife, Betsy (Laubscher) Roth in 2003 and resided in the Mansfield area and wintered in Sebring, Florida.
Cherishing his memory are: his wife, Betsy; sons, David (Rachael) Adams and Brant (Tonya) Adams, all of Mansfield; a step daughter, Lisa (Josh) Tarpy of Alabama; five grandchildren; two brothers, Hubie (Sandy) Adams of Shiloh and Larry (Linda) Adams of Galion; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marquita Fairchild; Cinda (Leon) Lindsey; Fred (Darlene) Mellick, Kathy (Les) Jones and John Laubscher, all of Mansfield.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ron was preceded in death by his in-laws, Gene and Vivian McFarland Mellick and brother-in-law, Bob Fairchild.
He was a well respected businessman, being president of DAI Emulsions, a manufacturer of dust control and asphalt maintenance products; President of Frey Scientific Company, a school science supplier. He also taught Business Management and Finance classes at Cleveland State University, Ashland University and Urbana College.
He was active in the community both in participation and commitment. He served on Richland Bank Board and Advisory Board from 1985 to 2015, served as President of Richland County United Way as well as being "Guru" of the community assessment project (NAPAC). He also served on the boards of the Mansfield Area Y, Richland Newhope Center and Newhope Industries.
Ron enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world, listing Australia and Canadian Rockies as favorite places to visit. His hobby of woodworking and furniture making became beautiful accents in their home. Since his retirement, Ron also enjoyed bike riding, photography and playing poker with family and friends.
Being known for focusing on the positives, he was frequently heard greeting folks with "A cheery good day to you". Ron will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed being with family. He was a gentleman with a kind, loving spirit to all who knew him.
Friends may call from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street Mansfield, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Dianna Barr. A celebration of Ron's life will be held after the memorial service at the Life Celebration Reception Center, 129 S. Main Street at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to United Way of Richland County or OhioHealth Mansfield Hospice.
