
Ross Rittenberry, 36, of Mansfield died unexpectedly, Monday, July 30, 2001. He was born June 21, 1965, in Troy, Missouri, to John Paul and Mary Ann Smith Rittenberry. He was a resident of the Mansfield area the last 33 years. He worked as a jailer at the Richland County Sheriff Department. He attended Cook Road Baptist Church and was a member of VFW Post #9943. Mr. Rittenberry was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and was currently serving in the U.S. Army National Guard. He enjoyed spending time with his children.
He is survived by two sons, Aaron and Brian and two daughters, Brittany and Holly all at home; one brother, Louis Dee Rittenberry and best friend, John Fry both of Mansfield; father, John Paul Rittenberry of Shelbyville, TN; mother and close friend, Mary Ann Rittenberry and Don Jackson of Mansfield; several aunts, uncles & cousins; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Rittenberry; and maternal grandmother, Mattie Ann Smith. Charles Smith, John Rittenberry, and his wife, Tambelina Rittenberry, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday, August 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Friday at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Jack Hackworth. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
