Rozella Merritt

Rozella M. Merritt, 68, died early Monday morning, September 29, 2008. Born September 24, 1940 in Moundsville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ivan V. Stephens and Helen M. Barnhart Merritt Arnet. She retired from Hartman Electric. Rozella enjoyed spending quality time with her family, camping, fishing, Bingo, crocheting, traveling, and playing board games. On September 29, 1956, she married Tyler E. Merritt, Sr.

She is survived by her children, Tyler Cheryl Merritt, Brian Merritt, Mary Jo Matt Grimes and Gary Vanessa Merritt, all of Mansfield, Charles Merritt of Marion, James Michelle Merritt of Bellville and Dale Vicki Merritt of Greenwich; forty-two grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, James Sharon Stephens of Mansfield; a sister, Helen Mahan of Mansfield; special niece and nephew, Glenda and John Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tyler E. Merritt, Sr.; stepfather, Jim Merritt; brothers, Victor and Robert Stephens; and sister, Peggy Anderson.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. Graveside services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Lantz Cemetery with Rev. James Walker officiating.
