Rudolph Volkmer, 83, of Mansfield, died late Tuesday evening, February 10, 2009, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born August 12, 1925, in Herrnfeld, Czechoslovakia, he was the son of Joseph and Anna Boehm Volkmer. He retired from Barnes Manufacturing where he worked as a welder. Rudolph was a member of the Mansfield Liederkranz for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elsie Marquetant Volkmer; two sons, Reiner Volkmer and his fiancée, Tina Deziel of Summerville, SC and Richard Volkmer and his wife, Marcia of Mansfield; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
An Open House for family and friends will be held Sunday, February 15, 2009 from 1-6 p.m. at 709 Ashwood Drive, Mansfield. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Mr. Volkmer.
