

Russell F. Cole, 86, of Mansfield, died after a lengthy illness, July 5, 2004 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, where he had been a resident the past five years. Russell was born in Sullivan, Ohio, July 16, 1917 and he retired from the United States Air Force in 1962. He served in WWII, the Korean War and also in Germany as an airplane and engine mechanic. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Mid-Ohio Bikers, Neighborhood Watch, Mansfield Radio Patrol, Toy Time and many political associations.
He is survived by five nieces, Marsha Chapman and Shirley Searles, both of Wellington; Sondra Faight and Gloria Dybo, both of Elyria; Rebecca Brasse of LaGrange and Patricia Floyd of Mansfield; one nephew, Gilbert Cole of Wellington and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth Dudley Cole and two brothers, Marshall Cole of Wellington and Ralph Robbins of Mansfield.
Friends may call at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield, on Thursday July 8, 2004 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Pastor Vernon Gilmore. Burial will be held in Sullivan Cemetery, Sullivan, Ohio. Family requests contributions be made to the Ohio Veterans Home.
