
Russell M. McKinney, 75, of Mansfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, June 20, 2009. He passed away at Oak Grove Manor after a long illness. Russ was born October 11, 1933, in West Virginia to Jessie and Esther Morgan McKinney, moving to Mansfield when he was 16. He retired from OK Trucking at age 58 with over 40 years as a truck driver and was a member of the Local Teamster 40 Union. As a younger man he enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. A member of Lincoln Heights Baptist Church, Russ was a Deacon in the church for 32 years and loved spending many hours visiting those members who were sick at home or in the hospital.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia A. McKinney of Mansfield; one brother, James R. Steagall of Mansfield; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat Craner, Mary Craner, Linda and Rick McCauley, Barbara Slone, Pearl and Les McConnhie and Shirley Steagall. Russ is also survived by his beloved Siamese 'Callie'. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. McKinney; his parents, Esther and Clifford Steagall; brother, Bobby Ray Steagall; a sister-in-law, Eileen Bebout; and three brothers-in-law, Archie Craner, Carl Craner and Bill Bebout.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Mansfield, OH 44902. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
