Ruth Ann Barker

Ruth Ann Barker also known as “Ponytail”, 82, passed away at Crystal Care of Mansfield on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Ruth was born on December 10, 1940 and was the daughter of Thomas and Esther (Hestler) Cathers. She married Roger Barker on March 1, 1975, sharing 48 years of blessed marriage together. Ruth a devoted wife, wonderful mother, cherished grandmother, and loving sister. She adored her grandchildren. A woman of faith, Ruth attended Faith Chapel and loved going to church. An amazing baker and great cook, she loved preparing meals and goodies to share with her family and friends. One of her favorite past times was rides in the country with her husband on the motorcycle. She enjoyed going to Kentucky to camp, tending to her flowers, and a nice dinner out. Ruth is survived by her husband, Roger Barker; her children, Donita Craft and Darrell (Lorena) Sager; her adored grandchildren, Donald Chinn, Destiny Craft, Brandon Sager, and Phillip (Rebecca) Sager-Malone; her great-grandchildren, Donnie Chinn, Carter Chinn, and Emily Malone; her siblings, Paul Cathers and Ota Mae Cathers; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; and life-long friends, Susie Keesee and Jeanie Meeker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Darlene Sager Heinberger and Dana Allen Sager; and her sisters, Laura Lee Welty, Carol Louise Smith, and Doris Jean Cathers. Special thank you to the loving staff at Crystal Care of Mansfield for the exceptional care given to Ruth during her stay there. Family and friends may visit from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street. An additional hour of visitation will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow immediately at 11:00 am with Pastor AJ Brinegar officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Memorial Park.
