

Sadie Elizabeth Johnson, 93, passed away early Saturday morning, July 16, 2011 at Oak Grove Manor. Born September 21, 1917 in Windsor, Ohio, she was one of 13 children born to the late Cora Mae Figley and Arthur Henry Gushard. Sadie formerly worked for Stran Steel and A.L. Gerber Company. She was a member of Adario United Methodist Church. A devoted fan of George Strait, she crocheted an afghan and mailed to him, receiving an autograph picture for her kindness. Sadie also sent a homemade afghan to Dick Goddard.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Lee Sharon Johnson of Adario and William Edward Jeannie Johnson of Citra, FL; five grandchildren, William Edward Johnson II, Eric S. Rhonda Johnson, Timothy Teri Johnson, Melissa J. Daniel Meagher and Robert C. Paula Johnson; seven great-grandchildren, Steven M. Johnson, Kaitlynn M. Johnson, Jessica L. Johnson, Jennifer L. Johnson, Robert C. Johnson, Jr., Haliana E. Johnson and Carson E. Meagher; three sisters, Marge Henry, Floy Au and Donna Dick Dickerson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Johnson, whom she married July 23, 1938; daughter, Patricia A. Johnson; sister, Helen Tucker; and brothers, John, Albert, Russell, Arthur, George, Bert, and Benjamin Gushard.
Friends may visit from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Christopher Liberati. Burial will follow in Windsor Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Southern Care Hospice or Adario United Methodist Church.
