Sammie E. Banks

Sammie had been a resident of Mansfield, Ohio since 1977. He was an entrepreneur Father and Sons Construction, skilled in blacktopping, commercial and residential painting and repairing as well as cleaning services. Serving by his side were his friends, J Churn and Rick Miller. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, playing cards and checkers. He was a generous man and he did the most by serving as one of Jehovah's Witness. As a zealous elder, he conducted many bible studies and helped those in need, no matter the circumstances. He always welcomed a challenge and he will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Banks; nine children, Etoyal (Jonathan) Murkins, Rodrick (Victoria) Banks, Sherri (Alvin Nettles) Banks, Christopher (Dodi) Banks, Desma (Damien) Melton, Michael Berryhill, Kenneth Berryhill, Ronald Berryhill, and Bryant (Rhonda) Berryhill; fifteen grandchildren, Dionna (Jordan) Miller, Ahrhansani Banks, Cameron Bright, Christopher Banks, Diante` Melton, Dacine Melton, Nicole Berryhill, Jermaine Berryhill, Kenneth Berryhill, Uriah Berryhill, Kenyatta Berryhill, Edward Berryhill, Ronald Berryhill Jr., Brasia Berryhill, and Rhayna Berryhill; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Joseph (Shirley) Banks, Grace Fuller, and Essie Lawson; special nephew, Richard (Jakie) Davis; host of nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle M. and James H. Banks; first wife, Betty L. Banks; sons, Brian and Kevin Banks; grandchildren, Brandon and Alexis Berryhill; brothers, Henry, Jimmy and Percy Banks; and sisters, Katherine Davis, Mabel Benson and Alice Banks.

The family will receive friends at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1780 Middle-Bellville Road Mansfield, Ohio on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 12:00-1:00 pm. Services will begin at 1:00 pm. with Elder John Davis officiating. The Wappner Cremation Center is honored to serve the family.
