

A veteran of the United States Army, he was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. Samuel held various jobs throughout his life including working for the Railroad, the Steel Mill, being an auto mechanic, and working for the Johnny Appleseed Woodcarvers. As a multi-media instructor through the American Red Cross, Samuel was instrumental in starting the EMT program in the Mansfield area and he also served as Police Auxiliary in town. He was a member of the Ohio Country Music Association. He was very outgoing, had a great sense of humor, and never met a stranger. He enjoyed motorcycles, being outdoors, going to the lakes to fish, and country music concerts but his greatest joy in life was being around his family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria J. (Stahl) Williams, whom he married December 2, 1950 at First English Lutheran Church; two sons, Franklin Williams of Mansfield and Richard (Jane) Williams of Ashland; grandchildren, Benjamin Williams, Michael Williams and Brandi Williams; step grandchildren, Chuck (Shelly) Gannon and Cory (Angela) Wolf; several great-grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Deborah Williams and Sonda Williams; and a brother, Joseph G. Williams.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, July 13, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery in Crestline at a later date.
