

Shirley was born on October 30, 1936 to the late William and Maebell (Walker) Parsons in Mansfield, Ohio. Shirley worked numerous years as a Head Start Teacher for the Mansfield Community Action Program prior to her retirement.
Shirley is survived by three sons, Jerome (Yook-Jing) Shoemake of Mansfield, Ohio, Tracy (Janeen) Shoemake of Los Angeles, California and Derrick (April) Shoemake of Moreno Valley, California; two beloved daughters, Senita Rochelle Shoemake and Paris Germaine Parson, whom both reside in Stone Mountain, Georgia; and special daughter, Selena Shirelle Pegues of Youngstown, Ohio. Furthermore, she is survived by two brothers and three sisters, Lawrence Parsons (special friend, Margaret Roper) of Mansfield, Ohio, William (Patricia) Parsons of Riverside, California, Marietta L. Thomas of Kettering, Ohio, Rita J. Duliln of Worthington, Ohio and Carolyn (Kary, Jr.) Catchings of Trotwood, Ohio.
Shirley enjoyed and appreciated the time she spent with her niece and nephew, Kimberly and David Parsons of Mansfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Alicia, Jocelyn, Rachel, Justin and Jordan Shoemake of Mansfield, Ohio, Naton Shoemake of Columbus, Ohio, Bryan and Rhyan Pegues of Youngstown, Ohio, Chad (Nikkia) Parson of Stockbridge, Georgia, and Tonya (Willie) Robinson, Tanika and Tye Parson all of Stone Mountain, Georgia; great grandchildren, Drew Parson, Angel Parson, Emani Parson, Noelle Paston, Gavin Camak, Ariana Parson, Chase Parson and Aden Parson; and special lifelong friend, Rufus "Popeye" Reid of Mansfield, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by the following: parents, William Parsons and Maebell Parsons-Carpenter, Mansfield, Ohio; husband, Earnest Shoemake, Stone Mountain, Georgia; daughter, Sharon Diana Parsons, Mansfield, Ohio; daughter, Elizabeth Mobley, Stone Mountain, Georgia; sister, Evelyn Elizabeth Robinson, Crestline, Ohio; sister, Mattie Jean Spruill, Battle Creek, Michigan; sister, Mona Grace Smith, Cleveland, Ohio; special friends, Martha (Rufus) Reid and Pandora (Humphrey) Brown, Mansfield, Ohio.
At Shirley's request, there will be no services. The viewing of Shirley A. Shoemake-Larkins will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Following the viewing, a small Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. by Bishop Pegues. Cremation will be taking place with burial to follow at a later date in Mansfield Cemetery.
