Shirley retired from the Madison Local Schools after 30 years as an elementary music teacher. Shirley was born on May 8, 1935 in Mansfield to Thelma (Myer) and Edward Brightbill. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Gerald Sargent whom she married on July 1, 1960. Also survived by her son, Gary Sargent; a daughter, Janice (Jeff) Swetlic; and grandsons, Ian and Luke Swetlic. She also leaves behind many extended family members and close friends.
A private graveside service will be held at Mansfield Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Easthills Presbyterian Church in her memory. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the Sargent family.
