
Shirley M. Schindler, 80, went to her Heavenly home, Thursday, December 30, 2010 at her home. Born August 20, 1930 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of the late Thelma and Glen Heinberger. Shirley graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1948 and was formerly employed as a cook with Ontario Schools. She was a member of Ontario United Methodist Church, Ontario Felions, Mansfield Millennium Quilt Club, Stitchin' Friends, Ontario Mother's Club and a Girl Scout Leader. Her interest in and love of flying was evident in her participation in the Mansfield Aviation Club and Experimental Aircraft Association. Shirley received great joy in spending time with her family. A woman of many talents, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, and card playing. Shirley was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
She is survived by two children, Diana Bob Brewer of Galion and Gary Nannette Schindler of Crestline; grandchildren, Chad Kerry Brewer and their children, Tayler, Ciarra, Julia, Maria, Cecilia and Eli; Brad Brewer of Copley, OH and his children, Brevyn and Tryston; Brandon Mandy Schindler of Morrow, OH; Aaron Schindler of the U.S. Air Force and his fiancée, Kaitlyn; Nichole Steven Gheen and their children, Mykala, Trenton and HanaJo of TN; Chris Sarah Pugh of Shelby; Ryan Pugh of FL; two sisters, Penny Heinberger and Donna Holda, both of Mansfield; brother, Gary Sue Heinberger of Mansfield; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard R. Schindler in 1997; parents; and two brothers, Bruce and Dick.
Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Sondra Snode officiating. Burial will follow in Ontario Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, the Arthritis Foundation or the Humane Society of Richland County.
