Shirley J. Shaffer, 69, of Mansfield died at home Saturday morning, February 12, 2000. Mrs. Shaffer was born August 5, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri living in the Mansfield area the past eight years. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steven & Blanca 'Jaz' Shaffer of Mansfield; a grandson, Nicholas James Shaffer of Mansfield; a brother, William James of Phoenix Arizona; and her oldest and dearest friend, Nancy Suydam of Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Anna James; her husband, Robert Earl Shaffer; and one sister. Memorial services will be held at a later date at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
