

Steve Nelson, 68, of Mansfield passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at County Meadows Care Center. Steve was born on February 19, 1949 in Buffalo, New York to the late James and Mollie (Mulé) Nelson.
Steve was a doting father and grandfather and cherished time spent with his family. Steve worked for WVNO and WMFD as a news reporter for many years as well as Richland New Hope in public relations and as a trainer. He was very active in the community. He was co-owner of the Red Fox Tavern, and in his spare time enjoyed traveling, golf and skiing. Steve was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Heather (Kevin) Spain, Hollie (Roger) Scruggs and Haylie Nelson (fiancé, Brad Scherpenberg); five grandchildren, Maya, Makayla, Mollie, Kobe, and Jordan; special friend, Kathy Nelson; sister, Joan Gardner; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Nelson; and granddaughter, Meadow Scruggs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Gregory Hite at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 104 West First Street Mansfield, OH 44902.
