Rev. Ted D. Risner

Rev. Ted D. Risner, 58, of Ashland, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born November 24, 1962 in Waverly, Ohio, he was the son of Wilburn Derwood and June (Jarrell) Risner.

A licensed minister with the Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee, he has been the Pastor at Wings of Faith Church of God since 1993. The Lord was his life and he loved to preach. Ted always had a positive outlook on life. He did a lot of community outreach as people always came before him. He loved to travel especially to the beach with his family, shoot, fish, camp and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

He also loved going to his grandchildren's sporting events and they loved being with their PaPa. His family and church family was very important to him.

He is survived by the love of his life, Marla (Wentz) Risner whom he married October 24, 1981; his children, Kristina (Tim) Lucas of Mansfield, Tracy (Joe) Spotts of Ashland, Melissa Risner of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Kim (John) Bell of Ontario, Ohio and Timothy Risner of Huntington, West Virginia; and his grandchildren, Levi, Alexus and Amber Lucas, Chase Dillow, Cayden and Aby Spotts, Justenne, Bryan and Torra Kling and Ally and Avery Bell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Stacey Boggs.

Friends may call from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2020 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Rick Lewis.
