
Thelma Ruth Dickens Henderson, 80, formerly of Ontario, died Thursday afternoon, February 26, 2004, at Lexington Court Care Center after an extended illness. She was born March 27, 1923, in Raleigh County, West Virginia to Lacy A. and Nancy Price Dickens. Thelma had worked at Stan's Restaurant, then for Cardinal Vending at Mansfield Tire Company and retired from Hawkins Market on Ashland Road. She loved her family and flowers and enjoyed watching them both grow and mature. Thelma lived by the philosophy ' that anything worth doing was worth doing well'.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anoka Jane and Kelly Lewis of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law, Larry D. and Sue Henderson of Gettysburg, Penn.; grandchildren, Jane W. Bauer, Darin Lewis, Rebecca Lewis, Seth Henderson, Chad Henderson, Lisa Haasz, and David Rainey; twelve great-grandchildren; five brothers, Paul Dickens of Lorain, Oh., Lacy Dickens, Jr. of Horse Creek, W. Va., Larry Dickens of Columbus, Oh., Frank Dickens of Pomeroy, Oh., and Harry Dickens of Naoma, W. Va.; four sisters, Agnes Miller of Covington, Va., Nina Massey of Seth, W. Va., Becky Blosser of Canal Winchester, Oh., and Loretta Sansom of Whitesville, W. Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Oley A. Henderson in May 1977, infant son, Michael, infant grandson, Timothy, and brothers, Leander, John Quincy and Emerson Dickens.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Saturday, February 28 from 5-8 p.m. Memorial services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Glen Phillips. Burial will be held March 27, 2004, in Eunice Cemetery in Arnett, West Virginia. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillside Church of God Fellowship Hall Building Fund.
