Thelma L. Windsor’s life’s journey ended peacefully on March 18, 2013 in Tidewell Hospice House, Sarasota, FL, following a two month illness. She went on to join her beloved husband, Don Windsor, who passed away in 2004.
Growing up in Wooster, Ohio, Thelma was the daughter of the late Raymond H. and Mildred A. (Shaffer) Shira. She graduated with the Class of 1950 from Wooster High School. After her schooling, Thelma began her life’s career in the salon business by opening her first salon next to the Ohio Theatre Building on Park Avenue West in 1951. As her business grew, she expanded and opened a new shop, Duchess Salon. Thelma’s last salon venture was Fingertip Fantasy. When her ailing parents needed her help, Thelma retired in 1986 and dutifully moved to Sarasota to take care of them until they passed on. A kind, caring, and loving woman, she will always be remembered as she had a great love and devotion to her career, her family, and her customers.
She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Linda Windsor (Craig Weaver) of Sarasota. A host of family and good friends also survive. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
