
Thomas C. Crotty Jr., 68, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at his residence following a short illness. Thomas was born in Mansfield on September 20, 1939 to the late Thomas C. and Mary Louise Walsh Crotty Sr. He had been a resident of the Mansfield and Ontario areas most of his life. Thomas attended St. Peters Catholic High School, and was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Having served forty-one years with the General Motors Plant, Thomas retired in October 2002 as a Crane Operator. He was a member of the Union Local #549 and was a member of the Owls Club #1152.
Surviving is his wife, Carol Lee Diehl Crotty; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Kathy Crotty grandchildren, Shannon, Kerrigan, and Clare of Orland Park, Illinois; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Daryl Hummel grandchildren, Lindsay and Lauren of Troy, Ohio, Traci and Bill Miller grandchildren, Josh and Jonathan of Ontario, Ohio, Tricia and Tom Carpenter of Mansfield grandchildren, Benjamin and Camryn of Mansfield, Amy and Rod Boggs grandchildren, Kelli Adan and Brittany of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Joy McCaulley grandchildren, Ehlana and Audri of Worthington, Ohio. Mr. Crotty is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Tom Bloom of Mansfield, and Molly and Jim Willeke of Butler, Ohio; a brother Dennis Crotty of Ontario, Ohio; his mother in law, Avis Diehl of Mount Vernon, Ohio; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Gail Diehl of Westerville, Ohio, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Carl Diehl.
The family of Thomas Crotty wishes to express a sincere thank you to everyone at Hospice of North Central Ohio and those who helped to take care of Thomas during his illness. At Thomas' request, there will be no visitation or services observed. His burial will take place privately at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in care of Hospice of North Central Ohio. Sing another song, dance another dance, his Irish eyes are now at rest.
