
Thomas J. Letizia, 76, of Bellville died Thursday, June 28, 2001 at SCCI, Mansfield. Thomas was born on October 4, 1924, in Mansfield to the late Luigi and Alda Letizia and attended school at St. Peter's. He retired from the Ohio Brass Company after 37 years.
He was a WWII veteran, serving 4 years in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific and China. He earned his pilot's license upon completing his tour of duty. He was a founding member of the Mohican Bow Hunters Club. During his lifetime no one was ever a stranger for long. Tom was an outgoing man with a beautiful smile and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a student of life, with special interests in art, photography, baking, travel, the Internet, archery, hunting, fishing, and people
Tom was the devoted husband of Virginia Muscili Letizia for 53 years, and the beloved father of Lori Kent Nicholson of Lexington, Janet Letizia of Bellville, Pamela Henry Steger of Wisconsin, and Tina Mark Thompson of Mansfield. He was loved by his many grandchildren: Aja Corwin, Zach and Alyssa Seevers, Shawna, Kaila and Rachel Steger, Amanda and Jenny Wagner, and Anni and Emily Thompson. He is also survived by two sisters; Mary John Hergatt and Kate Sam Alacca; his sister-in-law Sue Conrad Letizia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters and brother; Sarah Morelli, Angeline Nucifora, Thomasine Kampf, and Conrad Letizia.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Sunday, July 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 2 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Keith Carlisle officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park, Park Ave. West, with a reception luncheon following at First Wesleyan Church, 1908 Park Ave. West.
