

Thomas Albert Mills von Saas, 90, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born December 3, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Albert John Saas and Clara Mills Saas.
Tom was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps as a bomber pilot and was discharged as a Captain. During his service, he flew many missions, including four over Normandy on D-Day. After the war, Tom completed his education, earning his Bachelor Degree from the University of Illinois.
In 1948, he was a founder, along with his parents, and later President of New Haven Supply Company. Tom enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ann, and spent 50 years living half the year in Germany and the other half in the United States. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Weaver von Saas; two nephews, Jeffrey Savage and Justin Savage, both of Norwalk; a dear cousin, Barbara Jones of Riverside, CA; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Weaver of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Savage Hardway.
There will be no services or visitation at this time. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
