Tillman Franklin, Jr.

Tillman Franklin, Sr., 87, died February 12, 2008 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born December 30, 1920 in Gantt, Alabama to Sidel and Annie Will Goodin Franklin. He retired from Peabody Barnes after 30 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 64 years, Katie L. Franklin; five children, Gloria Jimmie Mosely, Joseph Franklin, Kay Franklin, Willie Franklin, all of Mansfield, Elder Tillman Phyllis Franklin, Jr. of Lucas; grandchildren, Arthur Lewis Boyd, Jr. of Mansfield, Derrick Kisha Franklin of Bradenton, FL, Mico Franklin of CA, Lanesa Kay Franklin and Christopher Jones, both of Oakland, CA, Danette Carlos Henderson of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Arthur Lewis Brittany Boyd, III of San Diego, CA, DeoÅ'te Franklin of Bradenton, FL, Autumn Latham and Jerron Mack of Mt. Vernon, Tannesha Jackson of Mansfield, Sha'nee Brown of Columbus; great-great grandchildren, Ciara Boyd of San Diego, CA, Isaiah Belt of Mansfield and Mico Arnez Franklin of Columbus; brother, Eddie Franklin of Mobile, AL; sister, Clara Miller of Mobile, AL; brothers-in-law, Johnnie Mattie Powell, Jessie Pat Powell and Coley Fields, all of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Lillie Staley of Columbus; and a host of nieces and nephews and a special niece, Sarah Dansby. Preceding him in death were his son, Joel Franklin; grandson, David Boyd; parents; sister, Kathryn Powell; and brothers, Willie Staley, Sr., Pete Staley, Robert Staley, Reuben Franklin and D.L. Franklin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 18 at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, 292 Charles St., with Rev. Clinton Hearns officiating. Friends may call at the church one-hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements. The family will receive friends and family at the home of his daughter, Gloria Mosley, 486 Louise Ave.
