Timothy Allen Brandt, 60, of Lexington, passed away March 12, 2023, after a heart attack. He was born November 7, 1962, in Mansfield, to Jack and Geraldine (Trease) Brandt. Being the youngest of five children, born to parents that each had 9 siblings, he was blessed with a large family and was always grateful for their times together. We will all miss him and his dimpled grin and big laugh.
Tim was a 1981 graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society, yearbook staff, and art club, winning a 1981 Governor’s Award for his artwork. In high school, he worked at Y-Not Cycling and volunteered his bicycle expertise for many years by repairing bicycles for Toy Time. He attended OSU Mansfield then transferred to North Central Technical College, receiving his mechanical engineering degree in 1985. Following graduation, he worked at Westinghouse and AK Steel. He retired in January from AK Steel after 30+ years.
Tim never slowed down...working hard, or busy on a project, or doing something for others. Tim's lifelong passion was cars. He used his artistic and engineering skills to design, build, restore and custom paint many cars.
Tim married Tonia Davis on May 23, 2001. They were married almost 20 years prior to her passing on February 28, 2021, before which he cared for her during a long illness. He cherished all of the happy times spent together, especially their beach outings; Tybee Island & Put-In-Bay were favorites. He was very proud of the children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to talk about their accomplishments.
Tim is survived by his mother; step-children, Scott (Holly) Davis and Mallory D'Augustine, and step-grandchildren, Kasey and Joslyn Davis and Austin D'Augustine; siblings, Lesa Brandt (Pete) Medek, Tony (Cindy) Brandt, Lydia Constance, and Tom (Nancy) Brandt; nieces and nephews, Kristen (Travis) Robinson, Benjamin (Melissa) Brandt, John C. Constance, Elizabeth Constance, Shannon Lott, Cory Brandt; and great nieces and nephews, Charleston, Brooks and Beau Robinson, Cohen, Brody and Benton Brandt, Haylie and Hadleigh Hutcheson, Tobey Lott, and Bexley Brandt. Tim is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including long-time friend, Jim Henry.
Tim was preceded in death by his wife, father, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
No services will be held. If you would like to honor Tim's memory, do an act of kindness for someone. Tim was always doing things for others; it made him happiest. Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services by Wappner is honored to have served the family.
