She graduated from Madison Comprehensive High School in 1967 and attended the Chicago School of Interior Design. Vicki was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She worked for the Golden Russell stores, Kafers Flowers and The Limited Corporation before retiring from the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). Vicki loved to decorate, bake, and plant flowers in the springtime. She had a great interest in genealogy and loved learning about her family history. She especially loved to entertain; most will remember her annual Halloween parties. Christmas time was always memorable as friends and family gathered around the 20-foot Christmas tree eating Christmas cookies that she had just baked and drinking wassail. She would forever get so excited to see the first snowfall storm of the season. She would call her family and make sure they looked out the window. Vicki loved music and was a huge Beatles fan, there was rarely a time that she wasn’t playing music.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Mindi (Mike) Brinegar; sister, Debbi (Dick) Pacelli; nephew, Nate (Miranda) Riggenbach and niece, Missy (Tad) Thomas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Rosie Cowell.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her caregivers, Beth, Deltina, and Gayla. There was great comfort in having the Southern Care Hospice team providing care for Vicki, especially Nurse Alec, who went above and beyond to make sure her needs were always met. Hospice volunteer, Ursula, who came to visit Vicki every week faithfully, her friendship meant so much to her.
A celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
