

Victor Lewis Whitmore, 84, of Nova, died late Tuesday evening, December 28, 2004, at his home. He was born September 1, 1920, in Lorain, Ohio, to Lewis Victor and Augusta B. Preist Whitmore. He was an area farmer all his life and enjoyed fishing. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Military Police in the Philippines and Tokyo, Japan. He was formerly employed at Parker Hannifan in Elyria for 25 years and Westinghouse Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Reta Mae Zimmerman Whitmore, whom he married October 28, 1941; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry L. and Becky Whitmore of Ashland; two daughters and sons-in-law, Roy E. and Beverly Brinker and Louis and Sharon Burkholder, all of Nova; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Whitmore of Mansfield; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William L. Whitmore; one granddaughter; two grandsons; three brothers, Glen, Earl and Elmer; and three sisters, Ann, Amelia, and Arvilla.
Friends may call at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, December 30 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Ben Roby. Military graveside services conducted by Ashland Veteran's Honor Guard will follow in Nova Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
