
Vincent W. Kennedy, 80, of Mansfield, died Sunday morning at home. Vincent went home to be with His Lord July 28, 2002 after an extended illness. Mr. Kennedy was born May 27, 1922 in Marion, Ohio the son of Carl and Jeaness Kennedy. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1940. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II, where he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was later stationed in Berlin with the Paratroopers. Mr. Kennedy retired from Bing's Furniture in 1971. Mr. Kennedy was a 60 year member of the Church of Brethren, where he served in many ways. Vincent loved music and singing solos in church. He sang in several male chorus's, including the Mastersingers. He was a member of VFW Post # 9943 and American Legion Post #16. Vincent was an avid golfer. Through all his sickness, he had a faith of God, a sense of humor and wit about him. He will be sadly missed and forever loved by us all.
On September 20, 1942, Vincent married the love of his life, Pauline Miller Kennedy, also surviving are one son, Vincent D. Kennedy of Mansfield; one daughter and son-law, Darlene and Larry Lambert of Marion; three step grandchildren, Larry Allen Jr.; Kristy Rapp; and Starlia Bandy; one brother, Cleo Kennedy of Clifton, CO; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Garnet Maddy of Napa, CA; and Audrey Ginnever of Mansfield; and Shirley and Lloyd Beach of Shelby; one brother-in-law, John Miller of Mansfield; many nieces and nephews; and a close friend of the family, Agnes Schiffel of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Karl, Kermit, Dan and Gerald.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Wednesday July 31, 2002 from 4-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to funeral services which will be held on Thursday August 1, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Brethren conducted by Pastor's Paul and Helen Martin. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery where military rites will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Church of the Brethren.
