Virginia Otto

Virginia Hegeman Otto, age 85, died January 22, 2006 at MedCentral Hospital. Virginia was born September 27, 1920 in Somerville, New Jersey. The daughter of Dr. Runkle Fisher Hegeman & Hazel Ruth Hegeman, she was a graduate of George School 1938 & Wellesley College 1942. She married Hans Otto November 16, 1945. They raised their family in Manhasset, New York, and retired to North Palm Beach, Florida in 1979. Virginia loved to read, travel, sail with her husband and family, play bridge and do crossword puzzles. She did volunteer work for her church and community while living on Long Island, and was active in her condo association in Florida. She most recently resided at the Waterford Retirement Community in Mansfield, where she enjoyed her weekly bridge game.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Charles Otto Wendy of Greenwich, Connecticut, Elizabeth Blanchette Robert of Southampton, Massachusetts, and Richard Otto Linda Hering of Mansfield, Ohio, and by seven grandchildren: Eric, Halsey and Robert Otto April, Stuart and James Blanchette, and Heidi and Elizabeth Otto. Virginia was predeceased by her husband in 1987 and her brother John in 1998.

Donations may be made to the Richland County Foundation or to the Kidney Foundation of Ohio. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
