Virginia Simpson, 96, of Mansfield, died late Wednesday evening, November 8, 2006, at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born December 5, 1909, in Franzfeld, Yugoslavia, she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna Hallabrin Weidle. She retired from the Westinghouse Cafeteria after 30 years as a cook. Virginia was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and lifetime member of the Sons and Daughters of Herman. She enjoyed bowling until the age of 84.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Norma Simpson of Mansfield and Edward and Linda Simpson of Mansfield; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Simpson on May 2, 1987; son, Ralph W. Simpson; parents; and one brother.
Friends may call Sunday, November 12 from 1-4 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Beal officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
