

Walter Sawatzki, 93, of Medina, peacefully passed on to glory on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at his home. He was born August 19, 1920 in Lipinski, Germany to August and Luise Sawatzki. Walter retired in 1985 from Union Carbide where he worked as a millwright. He enjoyed working on his cars and around his home, reading, and traveling. Walter was a devoted family man, a student of the Holy Scriptures, and a committed worshiper and lover of Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Adele I. (Richter) Sawatzki; daughter, Ursel (Chris) Vaughn; sons, Warner (Sharon) Sawatzki and Wil Sawatzki; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Willie Sawatzki of Germany; sister, Elsie (Manford) Schram; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends and acquaintances. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland, conducted by Rev. Alfred Ziefle. Friends may call prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
