

Wilbert L. Cox, 85, of Mansfield, died Wednesday morning, February 16, 2005, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born October 6, 1919, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, he was the son of James and Nora Spear Cox. Wilbert retired after 27 years as an insurance agent with National Life and Accident Insurance Company. He was member of Canton Baptist Temple and enjoyed spending time with his family. A veteran of WWII, he served with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arta Brooks Cox; two sons, Gary Cox and Mark Cox, both of Mansfield; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Cox and Bill Popadych of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and Gina Ashley of Mansfield. He was loved by his six grandchildren, Matthew Julie Miller, Ben Deena Miller, Brent Popadych, Kristyn Cox, Maeve Crotty, and Mason Cox; and step grandchildren, Heidi and Heather Popadych. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joy Cox Hunt, who died in 1975; two brothers, James and Oliver Cox; and three sisters, Delia Calvin, Norene Cox and Laverne Watt.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Friday, February 18 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Doyle Peyton of Westwood Alliance Church. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Westwood Alliance Church or the donor's choice.
