
Wilbur Ray Sanders, 66, of Mansfield died at home Monday morning, December 15, 2003 after a brief illness. Mr. Sanders was born January 21, 1937 in Drummond, Tennessee living in the Mansfield area most of his life. He moved to Gurley, Alabama in 1990 after his retirement from General Motors after 32 years. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Sanders was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Kay Cox Sanders of Mansfield; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bambi Powers and Kimberly & Dennis Ginley, all of Mansfield; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy Sanders of Mansfield and Shane & Deanne Sanders of De Motte, Indiana; six grandchildren, Bianca Baker, Miki Powers, Michael Powers, Brandon Ginely, Amanda Ginley and Alec Sanders; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Baker, Mikayla Powers and Hayden Drake; six brothers and sisters and spouses, Sophronia & Billy Neal of Gurley, Alabama, Roy E. & Vivian Sanders of Woodville, Alabama, Nona Jean & James Haynes of Corinth, Mississippi, Carrie Iness of Gurley, Alabama, Diane Howard of Huntsville, Alabama and Treasa & Thomas Ferreira of Lakeside, California; his mother, Lexie M. Sherrill Sanders of Gurley, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin O. Sanders; and a grandson, Shane Alan Sanders Jr.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday from 6-9 p.m. or Sunday from 4-8:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville, Alabama where funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m.
