
Shelby, Ohio. March 13, 2000. Wilgus A. Patton, 82 of 11 E. Gaylord Ave. Shelby, Ohio died March 13, 2000 at Heritage Care Center in Shelby, Ohio following an extended illness. Mr. Patton was born November 22, 1917 in Jackson, Kentucky residing in the Mansfield area since 1938. He was a 1934 graduate from Alger High School. Mr. Patton retired from Fisher Body in 1983 after working for many years at Empire-Reeves. He was a 52 year member of Church of God of Prophecy and was also a member of Church of God in Shelby. Mr. Patton was a retired member of U.A.W. Local #549. Surviving are his wife of 61 ½ years, Ruth Adams Patton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Terence and Marcelene Patton of Shelby; Gerald and Norma Jene Patton of Dayton, Ohio; Gregory and Lori Patton of Carmichael, California; one daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Michael Hopkins of Rome, Italy; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Patton of Columbia Station, Ohio; Lowell Patton of Ashland, Ohio; Cecil Hale of Warsaw, Ohio; two sisters, Mildred Dotson of Willard, Ohio; and Lola Forbes of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Rebecca Dyer Patton; two brothers, Albert Patton and John Hale. Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Wednesday March 15, 2000 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Shelby Church of God on London West Road conducted by Rev. Gary Adkins, Rev. Curtis Butler and Rev. Mark Menke. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Church of God.
