
William P. Gale, 79, of Ashland, died late Thursday evening, June 9, 2005, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus. Born May 19, 1926, in Cleveland, he was the son of Frank and August Trentel Gole and an Ashland area resident the past 10 years. He was the owner and operator of Gale Metals. Mr. Gale was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus in Aurora, Ohio. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Doris M. Christopher Gale; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kristine Gale of Ashland; daughter and son-in-law, Laurel and Reid Hudgins of Ashland; one granddaughter; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Jackie Gole of Strongsville and Fred and Betty Gole of Garrettsville. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Marie Knaflich.
Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, June 16, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward's Catholic Church, officiated by Father James Cassidy. Following the service, military rites conducted by Ashland Veteran's Honor Guard will be held in Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family. The Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
