
William A. 'Bill' Kimes, 76, of Ontario died Sunday, August 1, 2004, following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Bill was born October 7, 1927, to Harry and Livia Kimes. He retired from General Motors as a Master Tool and Die maker, after 30 years. Bill was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association. He owned, trained and raced Standard Bred Trotters and Pacers. He was an avid bowler, golfer, fisherman and motorcycle racer. Bill was in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Gary and Darlene Sqrow Kimes of Ontario, Bill and Jan Kimes of Mooresville, NC, two daughters and son-in-law; Jackie and Rob Tawse of State College, Pa. and Brenda Fraley of Mansfield, twelve grandchildren; one brother; Harry Kimes of Az., one sister, Ruth Sutter of Mansfield, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; Dixie L. Lacey Kimes, two brothers; Woodrow and Gene Kimes, and one sister; Esther Nelson.
Friends may call one hour prior at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Dick Host. Burial will follow service at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
