

Bill was an exceptional guitar player, pursuing his life’s passion of music, singing, & songwriting. And through his love of early jazz, he became an especially outstanding pianist. He was also a talented artist, who admired Native American art and culture. He loved history, science, great films, good food, and gardening. Bill was an intelligent, complicated yet comical person who really loved laughter and relentless debates. He believed in compassion, humanity, honesty, and individuality.
He is survived by his brother, Buddy (Alma) Schmidt; nephew, Jason (Kathy) Schmidt; niece, Andrea (Charles) Payne and Amber Schmidt; great nephew, Hunter Eaton; great nieces, Skyelar, Hannah, Cheyenne, Jaden, and Chloe; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as lifelong friends, Cheryl and Jerry Garn and Remo and Terry Carbetta. Bill is preceded in death by his mother and father, Leo and Doris Prince; great nephew, Jackson Schmidt; and friend, Mary Jane Beech.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 24, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Christopher Thomas. Family and friends may call two hours prior to the service from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
