
William E. Stoughton, 86, of Mansfield, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at his home. Born September 24, 1921 in Mansfield, he was the son of the late William H. and Ruth Arehart Stoughton. He was employed at Mansfield Tire for 32 years and had also retired from Hamilton Standard after five years of service. William was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Navy, surviving the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He dearly loved his Lord and was a very active church member. William was an avid golfer and had also enjoyed bowling in the past. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathleen H. Grafton Stoughton; three children, Adele and her husband, Pastor William Crabbs of Bucyrus, Michael and his wife, Peggy Stoughton and Carol Peace and her husband, Clifford Stumbaugh, all of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Sherri Pastor John Picard, Todd Julie Stoughton, Jennifer Tim Broderick, Michelle Dan Rodgers, Renee Matt Armstead and Jeff Stoughton; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Stoughton of Mansfield.
Funeral arrangements have been rescheduled for Monday, March 10, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Pastor William Crabbs. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park with military rites by Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail.
