Willie Hendrix, Jr.

Willie Lee Hendrix, Jr., 56, of Mansfield, died Sunday afternoon, May 11, 2008 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born August 11, 1951 in Mansfield, he was the son of Willie Lee Hendrix Sr. and Edith Burton Hendrix. He was a member of Shiloh Full Gospel Baptist Church and also attended New Life Baptist Church. Willie was a kind hearted, caring man with a wonderful sense of humor. One of the greatest joys in his life was spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by three children, Yasheta Antonio Sanderfer and Cierra Hendrix, all of Mansfield and Alisha Gamble of Toledo; three grandchildren, Rischard Mitchell, Tylon Mitchell and DeAnthony Sanderfer, all of Mansfield; special sister-in-law, Ola Brooks; special friend, Sharon Powell; and former wife, Mary Bowles. Preceding him in death were his son, Willie Hendrix III; daughter, Ceress Hendrix; and his parents.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with Rev. Clarence J. Sanderfer officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one-hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
