
Woodrow R. 'Woody' Williams, 89, of 1155 Devonwood Road died Tuesday evening, April 2, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield after an extended illness. Mr. Williams was born February 21, 1913 in Indiana, living in the Mansfield area most of his life. He retired from Mansfield City Schools after 25 years of teaching. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Mansfield Retired Teachers and the National Education Association. Mr. Williams was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stump Williams of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Lesley & Colonel Pete Sercer of Columbia, South Carolina; two grandsons, Jared and Garth Williams; a brother, Charles Williams of Massachusetts; and a sister, Kathleen Shaw of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randall Williams; and a sister, Dot Williams.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church conducted by Dr. Wray C. Smith. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park.
