Brian Thomas Seery

Brian Seery, a treasured husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on March 20,1959, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Brian was the son of Bernard and Rosemary Seery. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Michele Hawley.

Brian leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Sara Lea Seery, with whom he created a life filled with family, friends, and pups. They were married on May 28,1983, in Waco, Texas and made their home in Tucson, Arizona after meeting during their time at the University of Arizona. Brian was a proud alumnus, graduating with a degree in Business in 1981. He took great joy in the fact that both of his children followed in their parents’ footsteps by earning degrees at U of A, as did their spouses. Brian often exclaimed, “Bear Down!” with pride.

Brian’s life was enriched by his children, Kevin (Samantha) Seery and Taylor (John) Schwab, and his adored grandchildren, Asher and Meriel Schwab. He is survived by his brother Bernard Seery. In addition, Brian was a much loved brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, and cousin to family throughout the country.

Brian’s career was proof of his dedication and work ethic. He began working at the Big A Restaurant, which his parents bought in 1979. The Big A was a game day tradition before so many U of A sporting events, and to this day people fondly remember Brian's great food. Brian managed the restaurant after his mother’s passing in 1997 until they sold it due to his father’s health. He then focused on home repair, helping others with tiling and painting jobs before concluding his professional journey as a buyer for Malone Foods.

During the time his children were competitive gymnasts, Brian fully supported them by taking a leadership role in the parent group at Gymnastics World Central. Known for his love of sports, Brian was an enthusiastic participant in recreational basketball, softball, volleyball, and more recently pickleball. A diehard fan, he rarely missed a game when his beloved Dodgers, Rams, or Lakers were playing. Brian could often be found outdoors, carefully maintaining his desert property or tackling home improvement tasks.

Brian was a kind soul, known for his quiet demeanor, huge heart, and infectious laugh. His greatest source of pride was his long marriage with Sara. Whether it was traveling to their cabin in Pinetop or spending time at home, together they shared the joys and challenges surrounding them.

Brian will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his kindness will forever remain in their hearts. The Seery family extends their heartfelt gratitude to family, friends, and the incredible caregivers and hospice staff for their unwavering compassion and support during Brian’s final months
