Elwood “Woody” Kramer, 93, slick-fingered guitar picker, “cat skinner” blade man of Ashton, Borderland, and countless other construction companies, best home mechanic this side of the Platte River, dedicated voter and politically agnostic (not!), went to ride the moon on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Woody was comfortable in his younger days atop trees as he worked to trim them and fall them but he never got comfortable sitting on the hurricane deck of one of mom’s Arabians. No, Woody will be sitting a good seat in the saddle on a stout quarter house. Woody was famously indecisive with the more profane version of “I don’t care” as one of his favorites when asked his desire to eat, go somewhere, watch something…or just about anything. That isn’t quite fair, though, as he was surgically decisive in his love and devotion to God, his wife Jane, and his family, in that order.
Woody was preceded in death by his twelve brothers and sisters and his wife Jane. He is survived by his daughter Julia Golden, two sons Joel (and wife Tonia) and Brett (and wife Cindy), nine grandkids and 5 great grandkids.
To memorialize this charming cowboy with the black hat and United States Air Force veteran, the family is planning a Celebration of Life on December 12th at 10:00 (tentative – please check back in the coming days for confirmation) at New Life Fellowship on Cortaro Road. You are welcome to join us in song and remembrances. In lieu of flowers, donations to New Life’s mission work would be welcomed.
