

Pete was born on November 22, 1932 to Pedro L. Ramirez and Ernestina Q. Ramirez. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Socorro M. Ramirez. His surviving children are Peter M. Ramirez, Patricia M. Young, Alex (Rachel) Ramirez, Carlos M. (Lori) Ramirez, and John M. (Lisa) Ramirez; his 12 grandchildren Peter John Ramirez IV, Daniel Bowerman, James Young, Alex Ramirez, Derek Ramirez, Ryan Ramirez, Carlos Ramirez, Celina (Ernie) Leyva, Noelle A. Ramirez, Ian Ramirez, Delanie Ramirez, Camille Ramirez; and 8 great grandchildren Julien Ramirez, Jesse Ramirez, Dylan Bowerman, Valerie Ramirez, Amora Rose Leyva, Azaleia Lou Leyva, Noelle Ramirez.
Pete was a devoted Catholic who attended seminary in 1949 to become a priest, but he completed his education at Tucson High School during which he worked for Greyhound Bus Lines. After graduating in 1952, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served for 4 years aboard the USS Romulus and was honorably discharged in 1956. After the Navy, Pete resumed work at Greyhound Bus Lines for 47 years up to retirement in 1998.
It was on June 7th, that Pete married Socorro and together they reached their 67th wedding anniversary.
Pete was a proud veteran and he never left home without wearing his Korean War Navy Veteran ballcap. He was an avid fan of the University of Arizona Wildcats and he would not miss a game accompanied always by his wife Socorro.
Pete maintained his yard meticulously. He also held the roles of husband, father, and grandfather devotedly. And given his great love and commitment to his family, he will be missed tremendously.
The younger siblings of Pete include his sole surviving sister Carmen (Alan) Percy, and Carlos (Gloria) Ramirez [d.], Mary (Gene) Trujillo [d.], Adela (Robert) Borboa [d.].
Funeral Services are scheduled for August 12th, 2025 at St. Augustine Cathedral (192 S. Stone Ave. Tucson AZ 85701) with the mass preceded by a rosary at 9:30 a.m. Details for a Celebration of Life reception will be announced.
Burial is scheduled for November 20th, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Marana (15950 N. Luckett Rd. Marana AZ 85653) where a ceremony with military honor guard will occur at the final resting place of Peter Q. Ramirez, Jr. -- May he rest in peace.
